Quick Cares offer breast exams

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, four University Medical Center Quick Care Centers will provide clinical breast exams. The schedule:

Thursday: McCarran Quick Care, 1769 E. Russell Road.

Oct. 12: Nellis Quick Care, 61 N. Nellis Blvd.

Oct. 19: Spring Valley Quick Care, 4180 S. Rainbow Blvd.

Oct. 26: Summerlin Quick Care, 2031 N. Buffalo Drive.

Jamie Reno, singer-songwriter

and an eight-year survivor of low-grade, stage four, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer, will perform at Light the Night, a 2-3 mile fundraiser walk beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hills Park, 9100 Hillpointe Drive. Proceeds will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Southern Nevada. Call 436-4220.

The Juvenile Diabetes

Research Foundation will hold its 2004 Walk to Cure Diabetes from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Participants can walk or run around two tracks to raise money for the JDRS's research programs. Call 732-4795.

A "Refuse to Be a Victim"

lecture will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lieburn Senior Center, 6230 Garwood Ave. Certified instructor Arlene Kauffman teaches ways to be aware of personal safety and make safe habits a part of everyday life. Call 229-1600 to register.

The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary

will hold its ninth annual October Fashion Show and silent auction fundraiser at 1 p.m. Monday at the Four Seasons hotel. An English afternoon tea will follow the fashion show and silent auction. Admission is $45. Call 870-4430, Ext. 40.
