SANTA FE -- Nambe Pueblo is moving forward with plans for a spaceship-shaped casino.
Tribal members voted 109 to 74 Saturday to approve the casino.
"It's going to look like a UFO landed in Nambe," Nambe Gov. Tom Talache Jr. said.
Nambe will be the 14th tribe to operate a casino in New Mexico and the fourth in a 20-mile area.
Talache is relieved that the casino plans were approved.
"I'm very happy that they didn't discount it and that they weighed it carefully," said Nambe Gov. Tom Talache Jr.
Talache said he hopes all tribal members will support the casino because it could help fund a variety of programs, such as education and elderly services.
The 50,000 square-foot casino will be built on 15 acres along U.S. 84-285 by summer 2006. Full House Resorts Inc. of Las Vegas will manage and finance the $30 million casino.
