The key to catching the stripers has been to chum with corn to attract the fish while baiting hooks with anchovies. The smaller fish that weigh 1-2 pounds are in good condition while many of the larger fish have been thin.
Stripers typically come close to shore when the water temperature drops into the 60s with the optimum fishing being found around 65 degrees, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The water temperature is now 77 degrees.
