EPA announces settlement over Clean Water Act

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced on Thursday that it has reached a settlement with KB Home over violations of the Clean Water Act, clearing the way for work to resume at a 160-acre residential development.
Earlier this month the EPA ordered KB Home -- the valley's largest home builder -- to cease work on the Huntington subdivision, west of Fort Apache Road in the southwest Las Vegas Valley, after the company began clearing land and filling tributaries of the Las Vegas Wash without a federal permit, the EPA alleged.
Under the settlement, KB Home will spend at least $193,000 on wetlands restoration projects in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
KB Home officials could not be reached for comment.
