Ministries will hold AIDS vigil
AIDS Interfaith Ministries is sponsoring a candlelight vigil 7 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave., in recognition of World AIDS Day.
An AIDS activist, the Rev. Jerry Stinson of First Congregational Church in Long Beach, Calif., will deliver the keynote address. Additional participants will include choirs from Congregation Ner Tamid, New Vision Theatre, the Las Vegas Men's Chorus, praise dancers and soloists as well as the Second Baptist Church choir.
Religious leaders will be offering prayer, readings and a special HIV/AIDS litany.

Adult center gets new facility
The grand opening of a new addition to the West Flamingo Active Adult Center, 6255 W. Flamingo Road, takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. The public is invited to take part in the opening ceremony and refreshments will be served.
The larger game room will have two table tennis tables available at all times, and there are plans to add a billiard table in the near future. The new computer room will increase the participant capacity by 50 percent, from eight to 12 computer stations. Additionally, there will be Internet access offered in the new classroom.

Symphony to hold concert
The Henderson Civic Symphony is holding its annual Sounds of the Season concert today at 7 p.m. at the Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.
The concert will feature the all-volunteer symphony as well as local high school choirs. The event is sponsored by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department.
