The LandWell Co. and homebuilder Centex Homes announced plans this morning to develop and rehabilitate 2,200 acres of land for a master-planned community. The land is east of Boulder Highway, north of Lake Mead Drive and south of the Las Vegas Wash and is comprised of land within the boundaries of both Clark County and the city of Henderson.
Since LandWell purchased the land in 1992 from Basic Management Inc. (BMI), it has invested more than $50 million in restoring the property, including comprehensive testing and research of the soil and water conditions. LandWell is an affiliate of BMI, a privately owned holding company.
Land within the site will be restored to residential standards, per Environmental Protection Agency standards, the company said.
LandWell is working with local government officials to annex the county portion of the property into the city of Henderson.
