No one injured as fire destroys Henderson home

An attic fire in Henderson early this morning claimed the house, but no one was hurt, the Henderson Fire Department said today.
Firefighters were called to t 261 Village Court, near Basic High School, around 4:30 a.m., Deputy Chief Doug Stevens said.
One resident of the single-story house was home but got out safely, Stevens said.
Fire crews began battling the fire, which was confined to the attic, with water aimed from below, but were forced to pull out when the fire ate through the roof, usually a signal of impending collapse.
The roof then collapsed over the kitchen and garage, Stevens said. Neighboring houses were not damaged.
The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical short, but the investigation isn't yet complete, Stevens said.
No estimate was yet available for the dollar amount of the damage. According to Clark County property records, the house was purchased in 2001 for $117,900.
