A Las Vegas man wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in Texas was arrested Thursday in Las Vegas and was awaiting extradition, Clark County School District and Metro Police said Friday.
Terrell Davis, 27, was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from a previous sexual assault in Arlington, Texas, Officer Darnell Couthen, a spokesman for school police, said.
Davis was arrested Thursday afternoon after a School District officer noticed that Davis' car, which had been parked outside Chaparral High School in the 3800 block of Annie Oakley Drive, had expired license plates, Couthen said. The department has a standing policy to patrol the area around the school close to the school's dismissal time, Couthen said.
Officers at the scene found a 16-year-old girl in Davis' car. They still have not "gotten a straight answer" from him about who she was or why she was in his car, Couthen said.
Other than the expired license plates and a failure to have a valid driver's license, Davis was not charged with a crime in Las Vegas, Couthen said.
Davis remained jailed at the Clark County Detention Center on $10,000 bond while he awaits extradition to Texas, Metro Lt. Jeff Carlson said.
