Letter: Election is over: Bush clearly won
Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 | 9:07 a.m.
I thought Jane Burrough's Nov. 14 letter was most interesting. First of all, she says that the neo-cons are basking in their victory. That sounds to me like sour grapes. Then she said the neo-cons are naive to "assume" that all Americans will support the president's agenda. Huh? Who would ever believe that all Americans would ever support any president's agenda?
Secondly, she states that nearly half the American people will not support the president unless he makes "major concessions" to "placate" them. She did not state what those concessions are, but I'm an old country boy and I'm willing to bet that they are part and parcel of the Democratic platform that a majority of the American people said no to in the election.
Ms. Burrough should come to terms with the fact that the election is over and that President Bush won. His agenda and policies cannot be to everyone's liking, but as good Americans we should now stand behind him.
