Marjorie A. Burkes
Marjorie A. Burkes, 53, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 12, 1951, in Newellton, La. A resident for 50 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Angela Burkes and Latrisha Burkes, one son, Brandon Burkes, and one sister, Shirley Stewart, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Clark Burkes of North Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled noon-6 p.m. Monday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
Jose Jesus Ceja
Jose Jesus Ceja, 41, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1963, in Mexico. A resident for 23 years, he was a hotel pantry worker.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; three sons, Juan Carlos of Mexico and Jesus and Arnold, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Elizabeth of Las Vegas; his mother, Juana Paez, and three brothers, Guadalupe Ceja, Miguel Ceja and Roberto Ceja, all of Mexico; five sisters, Carmen Ceja and Rosa Ceja, both of Mexico, and Estela Ceja, Letty Ceja and Bertha Ceja, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.
Visitation will continue to 8 p.m. today with a 7 p.m. prayer service in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane, is handling arrangements.
Carmine Cocchiola
Carmine Cocchiola, 73, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Waterbury, Conn. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired plumbing and heating company owner-operator and a Korean War Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; three daughters, Teresa Gallagher and Patty White, both of Las Vegas, and Alicia Gamble of Wolcott, Conn.; three sons, Tony Cocchiola of Waterbury, Darrell Cocchiola of Ruidoso, N.M., and Mike Cocchiola of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
Patricia M. D'Aura
Patricia M. D'Aura, 74, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 13, 1930, in Danbury, Conn. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Jeannette M. Frick and Catherine P. D'Aura, both of Las Vegas, and Elizabeth A. Harrison of Stafford, Va.; two sons, John Edward D'Aura and Paul W. D'Aura, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Wilson Townsend of Hebron, N.H., and Dana R. Townsend of Fishkill, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Oscar Wilment Gupton Jr.
Oscar Wilment Gupton Jr., 80, of Las Vegas died Wednesday. He was born Oct. 15, 1924, in North Carolina. He taught biology at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., for 38 years and coached the wrestling team for 25 years. He was named Coach of the Year, received a Distinguished Teaching award, was designated professor emeritus upon retirement, authored a five-book nature series and was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.
He was preceded in death by one son, Martin Gupton.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Clentis; two daughters, Lt. Col. Diane Gupton and Caroline Gupton; one son, Craig Gupton; and two grandchildren.
Sunrise Cremation & Burial Society, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 5, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Edna Evangeline Hook
Edna Evangeline Hook, 81, of Henderson died Nov. 11 in Henderson. She was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired secretary in the automotive industry.
She is survived by one nephew, Dennis Walker, and one brother-in-law, Charles G. Walker, both of Henderson.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.
Ernest Meadows Jr.
Ernest Meadows Jr., 56, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. An automobile mechanic and a Vietnam War Air Force veteran, he was born Aug. 9, 1948, in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, Eola; two daughters, Eola Robinson and Candace Meadows, both of Las Vegas; one son, Ernest Meadows III of Fort Port, La.; his mother, Gertrude Meadows, and two brothers, Victor Meadows and Ray Meadows, all of Chicago; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled noon-4 p.m. Sunday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service. Graveside services will be 1:20 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Cecilia Raposala
Cecilia Raposala, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born April 4, 1928, in the Philippines. A resident for 21 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Julita Fontenelle and Gloria Raposala, both of Las Vegas, and Abian Nemia of the Philippines; four sons, Nelson Calumpang, Juan Calumpang, Milo Calumpang and Cesar Raposala, all of the Philippines; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 1-5 p.m. Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will be in the Philippines.
Erma Rinden
Erma Rinden, 91, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local care center. She was born Jan. 16, 1913, in Union, Iowa. A resident for eight years, she was a retired accountant.
She is survived by one daughter, Margie Wilkinson of Henderson; one son, Thor Rinden of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and three sisters, Florence Eggleston of Mulvane, Kan., Ethel Buck of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Dora Hess of Irvine, Calif.

Gloria D. Satchell, 62, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 23, 1942, in Georgina, Ala. A resident for one year, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one son, Marvin Satchell of Las Vegas; one daughter, Trenise Satchell of Los Angeles; four brothers, Lee Stamps of Las Vegas, Paul Stamps and Timothy Stamps, both of Alabama, and Octabies Stamps of Los Angeles.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Sunday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Guenter W. Theilkuhl
Guenter W. Theilkuhl, 73, of Pahrump died Sunday in a local care center. He was born July 1, 1931, in Bramstedt, Germany. A resident of Las Vegas and Pahrump for more than 35 years, he was a retired service manager in the automotive industry.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolynn Whiting.
He is survived by one daughter, Dagmar Theilkuhl of Bremen, Germany; and his ex-wife, Carolynn Theilkuhl-Ley of Pahrump.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
Bernard 'Ben' Scahill Jr.
Bernard "Ben" Scahill Jr., 77, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Joliet, Ill. A resident for 8 1/2 years, he was retired steel salesman and a World War II Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; two daughters, Susan Paige of Vernon Hills, Ill., and Jeanne Hughes of Simi Valley, Calif.; two sons, B.J. Scahill III of Las Vegas and David Scahill of Vista, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 11:30 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
The family suggests donations to the veterans hospital or the American Lung Association, 3375 Glen Ave., No. 7, Las Vegas, NV 89121.
Gene M. Whittaker
Gene M. Whittaker, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local health care center. She was born May 21, 1921, in San Bernardino, Calif. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie Zavala of Las Vegas; one son, Gary Fore of Cabool, Mo; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be noon Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
