Nancy Kerrigan
Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan will host "Holidays on Ice" at 7:30 p.m. today at the floating ice rink at Lake Las Vegas. World-champion skaters will perform on the 40-by-70-foot rink. Admission is free. 565-7400.
'Discover the Magic'
The holiday show "Discover the Magic" premieres at 6 p.m. today at Fashion Show mall and continues until Dec. 24. In addition to a 35-foot Christmas tree, holiday fashions by Southern Nevada Cadillac and Fashion show dancers, the show features a video with performances by Clint Holmes, Rita Rudner, the cast of "Mamma Mia!" and "Jubilee," Lance Burton and more. Performances will be at 2, 4, 6 and 8 p.m., and the show is dark Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission is free.
Genealogy lecture
Mary Barkan, a genealogy expert, will host "Researching Military Records" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Paseo Verde Library Conference Room, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway. Admission is free. 492-6593.
Animation lecture
Hiroaki Takeuchi, a producer of "The Animatrix," a collection of short animated films based on "The Matrix," will discuss his craft from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday at UNLV's Beam Hall. Admission is free. 895-3104.
Mexican celebration
Las Vegas' Mexican Patriotic Committee presents the "Mexican Revolution Celebration" at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Admission is $5. 455-7340.
Sock hop
People age 50 and older are invited to a sock hop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Dula Gymnasium, 441 E. Bonanza Road. Admission is $3. 229-6307.
Movie
Las Vegas presents "Brother Bear" at 7 p.m. today at the Cimarron Rose Community Center, 5591 N. Cimarron Road. Admission is free. Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. 229-1607.
'Quarters for Kids'
The inaugural "Quarters for Kids" event will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Cox Pavilion. Admission is free, but a 25-cent donation is requested. Entertainers will include Franky Perez, the Scintas, the Platters, Ponder, Killians Angels, LoveShack and the Crush. 839-4327.

Tuesday -- A gingerbread house demonstration by the chefs at the Culinary Institute of Las Vegas from 6 to 8 p.m.
Lamplight Carolers and Holiday Street Vendors from 6 to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and from 2 to 7 p.m. Sundays until Dec. 23.
Youth rally
Las Vegas presents the "J2K Gospel Youth Rally 2004," featuring youth ages 10 to 21, at 6 p.m. Saturday at the West Community Center, 2050 Sapphire Stone Ave. Admission is free. 229-5080.
'Gift of Lights'
U.S. Bank presents the fourth annual "The Gift of Lights" at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road, until Jan. 2. General admission is $12 per vehicle. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 5 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays. 451-0344.
