The chairman of the board of the world's largest slot machine manufacturer will retire early next year.
G. Thomas Baker, who became the chairman of International Game Technology just over a year ago with the retirement of Charles Mathewson in October, submitted his resignation to the board of directors at a special meeting Thursday.
Baker, who has been with IGT for 16 years, serving in a number of roles, including chief executive officer, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, will retire effective March 1.
The company said today a successor is expected to be named at or before IGT's annual shareholders meeting next year.
Thomas "TJ" Matthews, the company's chief executive officer, is one of the likely candidates for the chairmanship of the Reno-based company.
