Senate Democrats get committees

CARSON CITY -- Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, has released her party committee assignments for the 2005 Legislature.
Republicans control the Senate 12-9. Democrats will have three members on each of the seven-member committees.
The Democrat committee makeup:
Finance: Bob Coffin and Titus, both of Las Vegas, and Bernice Mathews of Reno, the only Democrat from Northern Nevada in the Senate.
Commerce and Labor: Mike Schneider, Maggie Carlton, both of Las Vegas, and John Lee of North Las Vegas.
Judiciary: Valerie Wiener, Terry Care and Steven Horsford, all of Las Vegas.
Government Affairs: Titus, Care and Lee.
Health Resources and Facilities: Wiener, Mathews and Horsford.
Natural Resources: Schneider, Coffin and Carlton.
Legislative Affairs & Operations: Mathews, Titus and Wiener.
Taxation: Lee, Care and Coffin.
Transportation: Carlton, Schneider and Horsford.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio, R-Reno, released the Republican committee assignments on Thursday.
