Letter: Bush now free to implement radical agenda

Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 | 9:03 a.m.

I am a Democrat and I voted for John Kerry. I do not, however, agree with Paul Krugman's Nov. 5 column, in which he writes that our Democratic representatives should resist the Republican agenda.

Bush was clear about his agenda, he was endorsed by 51 percent of the voters and Republicans hold significant majorities in the House and Senate. People should get what they voted for. Bush should be unfettered in fully implementing his legislative agenda and all judicial candidates should be promptly ratified.

The Constitution should be immediately amended to enforce the following patriotic and moral values: criminalize desecration of the flag, criminalize homosexuality, recriminalize abortion and enforce it with the death penalty for both doctor and patient, unwind all affirmative action, specifically legalize the ownership of any and all weapons and establish Christianity as the official religion of the United States.

Also, raise the retirement age to 75 and make it retroactive to 2004. This should generate enough funds to fully privatize Social Security immediately, with enough left over for another tax cut. Increase Social Security by 1 percent, terminate Medicare and let seniors buy their own health insurance.

The majority voted for the Bush agenda and this is a democracy. Let the good times roll. In four years we could all be rich and happy and the Republicans could rule forever. If not, like I said, this is a democracy.
