Letter: Bush now should clean up his mess
Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 | 8:57 a.m.
It has taken me a few days for it to set in and to find out why the country put Bush back in office. What were the people thinking?
He created an unnecessary war that has cost us the loss of young American lives, thousands of casualties and billions of dollars of taxpayers' money. At the same time, he gave his friends billions in tax cuts and noncompetitive contracts.
He did nothing positive regarding education, drug and health care issues, gas prices and the economy in general. There are fewer jobs for Americans and absolutely no movement toward cleaning up the environmental picture.
If all this wasn't enough, he brought religion into politics, something I thought was a no-no. He used his phony religious morality to buy votes.
I'm sure more of his indiscretions will appear as we move on, but in the meantime I wish him the best and sincerely hope that he can clean up the obvious mess he alone created. It's incumbent upon him to do so.
