Trees and Lights Festival to open
Paris Las Vegas will help the Down Syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada usher in the holiday season with the premiere Las Vegas holiday event, the Festival of Trees and Lights, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.
This year's theme, "Make the Season Bright," will feature Christmas trees (most complete with gifts), wreaths and gift baskets created by area designers.
The festival is a fundraising event for the Down Syndrome Organization. The evening includes dinner, music, a silent and live auction.
Tickets for the black-tie optional event are $195.

Henderson to host Coffee Shop Sunday
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free concert by The Press Band at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.
The performance is part of the department's Coffee Shop Sunday concert series, which features an array of musical genres and performers.

Fundraising event for children set
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas invite the community to the second annual everyKidcounts! fundraising luncheon noon-1 p.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 S. El Camino Road.
The informational luncheon will showcase the organization's philosophies and programs that have made a positive impact on the lives of youth in the Las Vegas Valley.

Hanukkah party scheduled Wednesday
Jewish Women International Summerlin Chapter 1827 will hold a Hanukkah party 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Desert Vista Recreation Center, 10360 Sun City Blvd.
Bring your menorah and candles for the Menorah Lighting Ceremony. Also bring a $5 gift for a child or other person and wrapping paper and we will wrap the gifts at the meeting.
For a light breakfast, there is a nominal charge of $3 for members; and $4 for non-members. Contact Lillian at 242-0842 for your reservation and information.
