Gladys R. Bentzen

Gladys R. Bentzen, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Cleveland. A resident for 43 years, she was a retired real estate agent.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin H.; two sons, Edwin H. Bentzen III of Arvada, Colo., and William J. Bentzen of Henderson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling private arrangements.

James Christensen

James Christensen, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. A maintenance supervisor in the gaming industry, he was born March 4, 1943, in Erie, Pa.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Theresa Szymchack of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Kelly Sutton of Las Vegas; one son, Martin Christensen of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled until 4 p.m. today in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Jose Ivan Compean

Jose Ivan Compean, 30, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born May 8, 1974, in Fresno, Calif. A resident for five years, he was a retail security officer.

He is survived by one son, Jose Ivan Compean Jr. of Sacramento; his mother, Gregoria E. Limon, one sister, Kathleen Limon, and three brothers, Julio Limon Jr., Mark L. Limon and Paul Limon, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Jacques Jacob DeFevre

Jacques Jacob DeFevre, 2, of North Las Vegas died Monday in North Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 5, 2002, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, Summer and Jimmy DeFevre of North Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Michelle DeFevre Chapman of Henderson, Jacques DeFevre and Don Chapman, both of Las Vegas, Danny and Dana Rivero of San Diego and Lon Cannon of Florida.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 2 p.m. service Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to Jacob's Light Tay-Sachs Disease of Nevada.

Edmund Theodore Garfield

Edmund Theodore Garfield, 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Illinois. A resident for nine years, he owned an automotive shop.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Gail; three sons, Vincent Clay Garfield, Irvin Philip Garfield and Russell Todd Garfield; one daughter, Dawn Lynn Dumelle; and two grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.

Daniel M. Gulli Sr.

Daniel M. Gulli Sr., 90, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local health care center. He was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Chicago. A resident for 32 years, he was a retired bakery driver, a member of Teamsters Local 734 in Chicago and the local Culinary Union.

He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Echota, and two sons, Nicholas Gulli and Daniel Gulli Jr., all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Rose Ann O'Nesky

Rose Ann O'Nesky, 68, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 15, 1935, in Canton, Ohio. A resident for 14 years, she was a retail sales associate.

She is survived by her husband, Edward E.; two daughters, Kathryn Collins and Carole Fulks, and one son, John O'Nesky, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Helen Godfrey of Las Vegas, Irene Crowe of El Monte, Calif., Patricia Settles of Earp, Calif.; one brother, Raymond Yuhas of Maui, Hawaii; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne.

Chauncey E. Painter

Chauncey E. Painter, 20, of Henderson died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born April 5, 1984, in Las Vegas. He was an apprentice electrician, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 357, a former Explorer with Las Vegas Fire & Rescue and a 2002 graduate of Green Valley High School.

He is survived by his parents, Charles and Candy Painter, and one sister, Chelsea Painter, all of Henderson; and his grandparents, Roberta and Vincent Painter Jr. of Las Vegas and Yves and Jean Buzit of St. George, Utah.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

June Rodman

June Rodman, 79, of Henderson died Monday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 8. 1925, in Peterson, Iowa. A resident for 32 years, she was a retired food service manager.

She is survived by three sons, Gary Rodman of Henderson, Dan Rodman of Boulder City and Wendell James Rodman; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Roy P. Seelye

Roy P. Seelye, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Beach, Wash. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired Army staff sergeant and World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Helene; one daughter, Faith Seelye of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Beverly Shulman

Beverly Shulman, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. She was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Queens, N.Y. A resident for 28 years, she was a retired counselor and past president of Cancer Care Inc.

She is survived by one daughter, Ellen Sloane of Las Vegas; one son, Mitchell Sloane of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Sidney Pearlstein of Florida; and two granddaughters.

Services will be 3 p.m. Monday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane.

Stanley Spierer

Stanley Spierer, 80, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 31, 1924, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired marketing director for a health maintenance organization, a World War II Marine Corps veteran, a former state commander in Nevada and California of the Jewish War Veterans and Disabled American Veterans, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, Order of the Purple Heart, Military Order of the Trench Rats, Cooties, Leatherneck Club and the Governor's Advisory Board of Veterans Affairs for Nevada. He was an Eagle Scout and chairman for the Board of Review for Eagle Scouts of San Gabriel Valley, 1989 Veterans Affairs Volunteer of the Year and former grand marshal of the Veterans Day Parade of Las Vegas.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; three sons, Jon Spierer of North Las Vegas, Fred Spierer of Henderson and Chris Spierer of Las Vegas; one brother, Arthur Spierer of Fresno, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service Friday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Graveside services will follow at 1:20 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Christine Moran Terlinden

Christine Moran Terlinden, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born April 16, 1942, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 18 years, she was a retired educator in special education and art.

She is survived by her husband, DuWayne D.; one sister, Melissa Moran West of Marysville; and one brother, Hamilton A. Moran of Minneapolis.

A celebration of life will be 6 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Billie R. Washington

Billie R. Washington, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born March 18, 1940, in Bradley, Ark. A resident for 35 years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by one son, Jamie R. Washington of Las Vegas; her mother, Velma Purifoy of Bank, Ark.; two brothers, Ira Purifoy of Bank and Leonard Purifoy of Warren, Ark.; and three sisters, Linda Davis and Dorothy Purifoy, both of Las Vegas and Doris Davis of Bank.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 1025 Balzar Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
