Nantkes won’t rejoin Rebels

Senior quarterback Kurt Nantkes did not attend UNLV's practice on Tuesday night and apparently has decided to quit the team.
Rebels head coach John Robinson, who earlier this week said "had left the door open" for Nantkes to return for UNLV's final two games, would not comment further on the matter after practice.
But a source close to the team said he didn't expect Nantkes to return. Nantkes hasn't practiced with the team since last Wednesday and he skipped Saturday's Senior Day home finale against Wyoming for what the school termed "family issues."
Nantkes, who had been officially replaced as the team's starting quarterback by sophomore Shane Steichen last week, did not return several phones messages left at his home and on his cell phone Tuesday night.
Junior Scott Turner, son of Oakland Raiders head coach Norv Turner, is now listed as the Rebels' backup quarterback.
