Twelve winners have been chosen from more than 240 photographs of trees, plants, weather and wildlife that were submitted by Southern Nevadans for the third annual Red Rock photo contest in September.
The theme of this year's contest was nature and wildlife encompassing geology, plants and animals of Red Rock.
The photo contest, held by the Bureau of Land Management, consisted of four categories: children's, black and white, general and creative. First-, second- and third-place winners were chosen from each category and cash awards and ribbons were awarded to the 12 main winners.
Certificates and ribbons were also given to honorable mention and ranger's choice winners chosen from each category.
Sierra Beggs, the first place winner in the children's category, will have her picture entitled, "A Tree's View" featured on the cover of a Bureau of Land Management sales brochure at the field office, according to Gina Mele, photo contest coordinator.
All photos submitted have been displayed for the past four weeks at the courthouse, where about 400 people viewed them per day, officials said.
The winning photographs, including all honorable mention and ranger's choice winners, will be on display in the exhibit area of the Red Rock Visitor center through December.
