David Adkisson

David Adkisson, 20, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 16, 1984, in Las Vegas. He was a student, a member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

He is survived by his mother, Connie Fratt of LaMirada, Calif.; his father, Charles Adkisson, and four brothers, Rick Rieckmann, Dustin Rieckmann, Matt Adkisson and Jonny Adkisson, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

Gloria Barton

Gloria Barton, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Casa Blanca, Morocco. A resident for 13 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Maria Barton of Larchmont, N.Y., and Barbara Barton of Henderson; two sons, Bruce Barton of Denver and William Barton of Miami Beach; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 8:40 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Grace E. Borkenhagen

Grace E. Borkenhagen, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Milwaukee. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired real estate agent.

She is survived by one son, Shano DeLeon of Santa Barbara, Calif.; one daughter, Joyce E. Ramos of Las Vegas; and one sister, Lorraine Ziety of Oconomowoc, Wis.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Quaza Tyree Burns

Quaza Tyree Burns, 23, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 13, 1981, in Chicago. He was a resident for 13 years.

He is survived by three daughters, Alecia Burns, Destiny Burns and Zee Burns, and two sons, Deshwn Kirk and Kevonte Williams, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Belinda Burns of Las Vegas; his father, Kevin Murray of Chicago; two brothers, Quinci Burns and Qushawn Burns both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Quiana Burns of Las Vegas and Angela Murray of Chicago; his grandmothers, Minnie Sparks of Las Vegas and Ethel D. Murray of Chicago.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1100 N. D St. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Roy G. Campbell

Roy G. Campbell, 83, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He born Aug. 6, 1921, in Joplin, Mo. A resident for 51 years, he was an owner of an auto parts store, a retired Army captain and World War II veteran. He was past master of the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge, past president of Zelzah Shrine and Henderson Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by one daughter, Deannie Ryan, three sons, Bruce Campbell, Mark Campbell, Chester Campbell, all of Henderson; one step brother, Bill Collins of California; seven gandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

The family suggests donations to Shriners Children's Hospital, Zelzah Shrine Temple, 2222 W. Mesquite Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89106.

Raffael Bautista Gomez

Raffael Bautista Gomez, 69, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday. He was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Jalisco, Mexico. A resident for 48 years, he was an owner of G Concrete and was in the army for two years.

He was preceded in death by his brother Juan.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; one daughter, Missy; two sons, Roman and Mike; four brothers, Joaquin Gomez, Joe Gomez, Jesse Gomez and Fidel Gomez; four sisters, Mimi Cramer, Marcella Martinez, Cuca Estrada and Margaret Jasso; and one granddaughter.

Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St., Las Vegas, NV 89030. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Andy Ivanhoe

Andy Ivanhoe, 83, died Oct. 29 in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 6, 1921, in Napoleon, N.D. A snowbird, he was a retired Van Lines employee and a Navy veteran specializing in the maintenance and repair of fighter aircraft.

He is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Reis and Kathryn Thompson; and numerous other friends and relatives.

A spring memorial service is pending in Napoleon.

Celestia E. Johnson

Celestia E. Johnson, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 16, 1931, in Maine. A resident for 40 years, she was a motel manager.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Johnson; one son Bernard Johnson of Las Vegas; one daughter, Kellie Ziel of Plymouth Minn.; and three grandchildren.

Mary Noonan Knight

Mary Noonan Knight, 91, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 20, 1913, in San Francisco. A resident for 39 years, she was a retired property investor.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Mary V. Manning

Mary V. Manning, 88, died Saturday at her home in Bloomington, Utah, following a lengthy illness.

A longtime executive secretary for Valley Bank of Nevada, now the Bank of America, she was a Las Vegas resident for 26 years before moving to Bloomington in 1978.

Born on Feb. 9, 1916, she married longtime Las Vegas Internal Revenue Service agent John Manning on June 7, 1943. After leaving the IRS in 1964, he too worked at Valley Bank, where he was a purchasing agent and auditor. He died in October 2000.

In the late 1950s, she was chosen to represent Nevada in McCall's magazine's Congress on Better Living in Washington, D.C., a nationwide gathering to honor America's homemakers and get their opinions on then-modern home products.

She was a member of the Mesquite Club, St. Anne Catholic Church Auxiliary and the Mother's Club at St. Anne Elementary School.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., in St. George, Utah. Viewing will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be Marlborough, Mass.

She is survived by her daughter, Sun reporter Mary Frances Manning, her son-in-law, Larry Matheis, and granddaughter, Michelle Whitaker, all of Las Vegas.

In addition to her husband, Manning was preceded in death in April 2001 by a son, John Michael Manning.

Donations can be made in Mary V. Manning's memory to "Lights for Life" at the Foundation of Dixie Regional Medical Center, 544 South 400 East, St. George, Utah, 84770.

Beverly Anne Means

Beverly Anne Means, 73, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 18, 1931, in California. A resident for 27 years, she was a librarian.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Means, Carey Means and Frank Means; and one daughter, Joyce Worden; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Raymond Miralles

Raymond Miralles, 81, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Manila, Philippines. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired manager in the parking industry and past vice president of St. Michael Orthodox Church and past president of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jean; one daughter, Maricor Lucero of Buena Park, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Cat Andrews of Las Vegas; one brother; and six sisters.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 7 p.m. service Sunday in St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Coreta 'Dodge Girl' Moncrief

Coreta "Dodge Girl" Moncrief, 83, of Dolan Springs, Ariz., died Tuesday in Dolan Springs. She was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Jewett, Texas. A former Las Vegas resident since the early 1980s, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis; two sons, Curtis Moncrief Jr. of Orange, Calif., and David Moncrief of Dolan Springs; one sister, Bessie Woodall of Jewett; three brothers, Edward Jones and James Jones of Houston and Roy Jones of Jewett; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Graveside services will be private.

Joel M. Sheftall

Joel M. Sheftall, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Vian, Okla. A resident for 27 years, she was last employed by Westward Ho casino.

She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Moore and Jewel Dean Smith, both of Las Vegas and Cynthia A. Fleming of Flint, Mich.; three sons, Hershel Smith of Burlington, Iowa, Charles Reddick of Vallejo, Calif., and Sherman Sheftall of Las Vegas; one brother, Willie Belcher of Albuquerque; four sisters, Bernice Childs of Kansas City, Kan., Beulah Wright of Kansas City, Mo., Mildred Ckavens of Vian and Annette Griffin of Muskogee, Okla.

Services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane, followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Donna Ann Steele

Donna Ann Steele, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Lynn, Mass. A resident for 14 years, she was a software analyst.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Sanders of Asheboro, N.C.; one son, Scott Simmons of Highpoint, N.C.; her mother, Edith Cummings of Nutting Lake, Maine; two sisters, Nancy Rizzo of Las Vegas and Marilyn Costa of Dracut, Maine; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Doug F. Taylor

Doug F. Taylor, 59, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 20, 1944, in St. Louis. A resident for 25 years, he was a Realtor and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two sons, Robert Taylor and Scott Taylor, both of California; three brothers; four sisters; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson. Burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, will be private. Sunrise Cremation & Burial Society, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 5, Henderson, assisted the family with arrangements.

Georgia Mae Thompson

Georgia Mae Thompson, 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in North Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Epps, La. A resident for 48 years, she was hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by three sons, Johnnie Thompson of North Las Vegas, Freddie Thompson of Las Vegas and Ronnie Thompson of Henderson; five daughters, Maybell Jefferson and Tena Postell, both of North Las Vegas, Beatrice Soares of Henderson, Shelly White and Dianne Long, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Edward Pearson of Epps and James Pearson of Las Vegas; one sister Maybell Funches of Las Vegas; 23 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Joseph R. Venable Sr.

Joseph R. Venable Sr., 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born May 22, 1922, in Pass Christian, Miss. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired mail carrier for the Veterans Administration Hospital and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Alan Venable and Anthony Venable, both of Las Vegas, and Gilbert Venable of California; and two daughters, Deborah Venable and Cindy Cook, both of California.

Visitation is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be noon Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Pamela J. Wenger

Pamela J. Wenger, 53, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born April 11, 1951, in Burbank, Calif. A resident for 43 years, she was a dental hygenist.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne M. Wenger; one son, Stewart Wenger of Dallas; one daughter, Meredith Wenger of Seattle; her parents, Frances and Worth Stewart; two sisters, Cindy Simpson, Debbie Dressler, two brothers, Gary Reeves and Bill Cobb, all of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
