CARSON CITY -- The state Judicial Selection Commission has started the process of accepting applications to replace Clark County District Judge Ron Parraguirre, who was elected to the Nevada Supreme Court Tuesday and will take office in January.
There also are two other vacancies in the District Court in Reno, Chief Justice Miriam Shearing said Wednesday. District Judge Jim Hardesty was also elected to the Supreme Court, and District Judge Charles McGee will retire in January.
The deadline for submitting applications for all three jobs is Dec. 3. Applications are available at the Supreme Court offices in Carson City and Las Vegas and at the Eighth Judicial District Court Administrator's Office in the Clark County Courthouse.
The selection commission will conduct interviews in Clark County the week of Dec. 27 to replace Parraguirre. The commission will nominate three people and Gov. Kenny Guinn will make the final choice. That individual will serve until the next election.
No dates have been set for the interviews for those who want to serve in Washoe County.
