Historian and author Hal Rothman has been inducted into the the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame.
Rothman, who has taught history at UNLV since 1992, is the author of numerous books about Las Vegas and the West.
Rothman said he moved to Las Vegas thinking about the changing economy and character of the new American West. "Basically, I stepped into my laboratory," he said. "In a strange way it was a perfect fit."
Rothman will be inducted along with William Fox, an award-winning poet, critic, and artist, during an awards ceremony in Reno.
UNLV professor and poet Aliki Barnstone and Clay Jenkinson, who hosts the nationally syndicated "Thomas Jefferson Hour" radio program, received Silver Pen Awards, which honor writers midcareer.
