Paul K. Ballew

Paul K. Ballew, 83, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Centralia, Mo. A resident for two years, he was a retired district sales manager in the pharmaceutical industry and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ande C.; one daughter, Lesley DiGaetano of Henderson; one son, Paul K. Ballew Jr. of Santa Clarita, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Shirley Boyers

Shirley Boyers, 87, of Coronado, Calif., died Monday. She was born Oct. 6, 1917, in Poland. A resident for 40 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Jerold Boyers, Brad Boyers and Martin Boyers, all of Las Vegas and Steven Boyers of Santa Monica, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. today in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89135.

Denise L. Brinks

Denise L. Brinks, 48, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 7, 1956, in South Haven, Mich. A resident for 18 years, she was an office manager for a local dentist.

She is survived by her significant other, Brad Collie of North Las Vegas; one daughter, Sanden Andrews of Modesto, Calif.; one sister, Terri Brinks of Cedar Hill, Texas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be 3 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Cheyenne.

The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, 1325 E. Harmon Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Terri Kay 'Rusty Allen' Cooper

Terri Kay "Rusty Allen" Cooper, 60, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 10, 1944, in Texas. A resident for 15 years, she was an actress and a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

She is survived by her parents, Bill and Bettye Hatchett; one brother, Stan Serrano; and one sister, Michele Dobritch.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Sidney Green

Sidney Green, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Oct. 10, 1924, in Marshall, Texas. A resident for three years, he was a hospital janitor and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary D.; one son, Roland Green of Las Vegas; one sister, Irene D. Parker of San Francisco; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-6 p.m. Thursday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Thomas and Jones Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Gerald Eugene Hackethorn

Gerald Eugene Hackethorn, 70, of Las Vegas died Oct. 19 in a local hospice. He was born June 4, 1934, in Missouri. A resident for 42 years, he was a laborer at the Sahara hotel, a Navy veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and Teamsters Local 995.

He is survived by three daughters, Becky Arnold, Tonya Sims and Syndi Lyons; three sisters, Nancy Schiavone, Rosie Essex and Betty Townsend; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

Norman Junior 'Pete' Petersen

Norman Junior "Pete" Petersen, 80, of Merced, Calif., died Thursday in Merced. He was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Loretta, Neb. A former Las Vegas resident for 26 years, he owned the Fleur De Lis Bar in Laguna Beach, Calif., and most recently was a retired employee of the Chateau Vegas restaurant in Las Vegas. He was a fighter pilot during World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by one son, Thomas Cooke of Merced; one sister, Elaine Vasquez of Oakland, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Services are private. Burial will be in Gustine, Calif. Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Vernamay Propios

Vernamay Propios, 46, of Las Vegas died Oct. 27 in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 12, 1957, in Kentucky and was a social worker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Jenifer N.H. Symonds and Jolyn N.L. Sparks; one son, Robert D. Propios Jr.; her parents, Shirley McDougall-Smith and Nicodemus Gesulga; four siblings, Annamarie, Nic and Brian Gesulga and Terri McDougall; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Paradise Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4575 S. Sandhill Road. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Ralph Sassoon

Ralph Sassoon, 84, of Mount Laurel, N.J., died Sunday. He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Japan. A former Las Vegas resident for 18 years, he was a retired owner-operator of electronics stores.

He is survived by one daughter, Elyce Sassoon of Bordentown, N.J.

Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd. King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane, is handling arrangements.

JoAnn L. Ullrich

JoAnn L. Ullrich, 73, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A hospital EKG supervisor, she was born June 3, 1931, in California.

She is survived by three daughters, Victoria Ullrich, Pam Klekas and Debbie Stokke, and two sons, James Ullrich Jr. and John Ullrich, and one sister, Susan Genest, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 9-11 a.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Deborah Ann Whitney

Deborah Ann Whitney, 50, of Las Vegas died Sunday. She was born July 9, 1954, in Tacoma, Wash. A resident for seven years, she was a cook's helper.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Weir; two sons, Ryan Brown of Las Vegas and Craig Brown of Lacey, Wash.; her father, Dale Whitney of Tacoma; her mother, Jean Whitney of University Place, Wash.; and two sisters, Sandy Whitney of University Place and Karen Whitney of Seattle.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Graeme W. Zimmer

Graeme W. Zimmer, 79, of Las Vegas died June 19 in Las Vegas. A self-employed producer and a World War II Army veteran, he was born April 4, 1925, in Schenectady, N.Y.

Graveside services will be 9:20 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Joann Zimmerman

Joann Zimmerman, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born April 14, 1931, in Circleville, Ohio. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Paul; one son, Michael Zimmerman of Henderson; one brother, Carl Hildenbrand of Canal Winchester, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
