Nevada Supreme Court rejects voter challenge

CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court this morning dismissed the petition of a Sparks couple who said they signed up to vote but their registration was never turned into the Washoe County Voter Registrar's Office.
The court said the petition of Eric and Traci Amberson "raises significant issues pertaining to Nevada's citizens' right to vote" but its intervention is not appropriate at this time.
The court said, "This court is ill-equipped to resolve factual issues, such as whether petitioners are qualified electors and whether they submitted properly completed voter registration forms."
It said the District Court is the proper place to raise the issue.
The Ambersons said they registered to vote Democratic at a place in front of a supermarket. But they learned later their registration apparently was never turned in.
There were similar allegations in Las Vegas and in Oregon.
An FBI investigation is underway into these incidents.
