Tiger Jam’ set for Saturday

Friday, May 28, 2004 | 8:28 a.m.

And pop sensation Prince will be the featured entertainer for the event.

Other celebrities expected to attend include Jessica Alba, Jeffrey Donofan, George Lopez, Mark Wahlberg, Jerry O'Connell, Jonathan Silverman, Molly Sims and others.

Greg McLaughlin, president of the Tiger Woods Foundation, says this will be the largest attended Tiger Jam to date.

More than 10,000 fans are expected to turn out for the Prince concert.

"It's really a great show," McLaughlin said. "We are honored to have him. I'm sure everyone is going to be impressed."

McLaughlin credits Prince with the record-breaking Tiger Jam.

"What we're finding is that after three months, the Prince tour is the tour of the year, which is what writers say across the country," McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin said he expects Tiger Jam to bring in an excess of $1 million.

"Typically, that's what we have done in each of the last five years," he said. "That's our minimum benchmark. But the only thing we can say for sure is that the attendance will be the largest one ever. Everything else depends on the auction and other factors."

"Tiger Jam" will feature live and silent auctions of unique luxury items, including the opportunity to play 18 holes during the 2004 Target World Challenge Pro-Am and private putting lessons from Woods.

The auction will take place during a benefit reception, which precedes the 9 p.m. public concert.

Another package to be auctioned includes seven nights and first-class airfare on American Airlines to Temenos, a St. Regis retreat and private villa compound in Anguilla.

Tiger Jam also features a silent auction of such items as a one-year membership to the House of Blues Foundation Room and a weekend package at the Four Seasons Santa Barbara and Avia Spa. The Saturday event also will include a private dinner prepared by acclaimed chef and restaurateur Charlie Palmer.

The dinner will be hosted by comedian Ray Romano.

"I am excited to support such a wonderful charitable event," Palmer said in a prepared statement. "Tiger's guest list is very impressive, and I plan on preparing a tremendous dinner."

The Las Vegas-based concert series was created in 1998 by the Tiger Woods Foundation, which was established in 1996 by Tiger Woods and his father, Earl.

"Tiger Jams" I through VI have raised more than $6 million, and those proceeds have supported Child Haven, Center for Independent Living, Greater Las Vegas Inner City Games, Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas, UNLV women's athletics, GRAMMY in the Schools and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.
