Letter: People over 50 shortchanged
Friday, May 28, 2004 | 8:48 a.m.
With almost half of the population over 50, where is the representation in advertising these days -- outside of the pharmaceutical companies -- for the mature person?
People are living longer and are still active in their 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond. The aging of America, you know.
Most people in this age group are not represented in television and films either. Where are all of those character actors with depth and a few wrinkles and those mature writers with all that knowledge. What a waste! Human nature is the same regardless of age.
Age is wonderful! It's a privilege to be mature. You made it this far. Let's celebrate!
It seems to me that there is a lot of age discrimination out there.
