Hershey's track meet set for kids
Hershey's Track and Field Youth Program and the Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services invite Nevada boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 14 to participate in a free regional qualifying open track meet from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Western High School track, 4601 W. Bonanza Road.
Youth will compete in three age groups, 9 to 10, 11 to 12 and 13 to 14, with age determined by the participant's age on Dec. 31.
Events include the 50-, 100-, 200-, 400-, 800- and 1600-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay, standing long jump and softball throw. Within each age group, boys will compete with boys and girls will compete with girls. Each youth may enter up to three eventsFor more information, call 229-6729.
Actress Garr joins MS program
As part of the program "Living with MS," Oscar-nominated actress Teri Garr is joining local medical professionals and other role models with multiple sclerosis, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Green Valley Ranch, 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway, to educate and inspire people with MS and their families.
