Regulator recommends approval of rate hike
Tuesday, May 25, 2004 | 10:39 a.m.
A draft order issued this morning by Public Utilities Commissioner Adriana Escobar Chanos recommends a 17.1 percent increase in Southwest Gas Corp. rates in Southern Nevada.
The increase would raise rates by about $43 million annually to accommodate higher costs the company is incurring for the purchase of natural gas.
The order is expected to be voted on by the full commission Wednesday. If approved, the new rates could go into effect on June 1.
