Fishing at Lake Mead is good and is showing signs that it will be getting even better as the water temperature rises.
Unfortunately, anglers have been unable to take full advantage of the good fishing because of the strong winds.
Boaters who have been fishing in the Overton Arm had good success over the weekend for largemouth and striped bass, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Stripers that weigh 1-3 pounds have been caught at Fish Island, Ann Marguret Cove, Stewart's Point, St. Thomas and Fire Cove.
Walt deMattos, NDOW creel clerk, said boaters are catching large numbers of very small stripers at the tires at Overton Beach. He calls this as good location for children because they will be successful by using cut anchovies for bait.
The islands that have surfaced near Echo Bay have been productive for largemouth bass.
