A man and a teenage boy were shot and injured this morning after someone fired at least three shots into their home near Lamb Boulevard and Carey Avenue, Metro Police said.
The shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Payson Court. A man was shot in the back and a 15-year-old boy believed to be his son was shot in the leg. They were being treated at University Medical Center.
Gasoline was poured on two vehicles parked outside the home, Officer Jose Montoya, a Metro Police spokesman, said. Someone also tried to set the house on fire, and firefighters were called to extinguish it.
A witness told police a man rode away on a bicycle.
The motive for the shooting and arson are unclear, Montoya said.
"It doesn't appear gang related," he said. "They were pretty shaken up and they said they didn't know who would have done this."
