Hope Is Eternal Ball on Sunday
The Southern Nevada Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will host the Hope Is Eternal Ball beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday at J.W. Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd., to raise money to fund research programs to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins disease and myeloma.
Money raised will also provide patient services and educational programs for patients and their families as well as educational programs for medical and allied health professionals.
Guests at the ball will include Lance Burton, the Scintas, Johnny Potash, Society of Seven, Grant Griffin, Patricia Welch and Sun City Dance Company.

Special Olympics set this weekend
The Nevada Special Olympics will begin with an Olympic-type opening ceremonies at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the McDermott Complex at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The Flame of Hope torch will be carried by local law enforcement officers in a motorcade of patrol cars down Las Vegas Boulevard from the North Las Vegas Police Department to the McDermott Complex beginning at 7 p.m. The torch will be handed off to waiting law enforcement officers who will do a 5K run throughout the campus. Competitions will begin at 8:30 a.m. n Saturday.
