Kerry to visit Las Vegas

Friday, May 14, 2004 | 9:26 a.m.

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry will spend about seven hours in Las Vegas on Sunday to speak to a big Teamsters rally and raise some money.

It will mark the Massachusetts senator's second trip in three months to Nevada, considered a swing state that could help determine the winner of the November presidential election.

Kerry first will speak to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Annual Unity Conference at Bally's on the Strip.

He then will attend fund-raisers at the Four Seasons Hotel at Mandalay Bay before departing late Sunday for Topeka, Kan.

Kerry does not have any public events on his schedule.

When he announced on Wednesday that Kerry would travel again to Nevada, Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., predicted that Kerry will make several more trips to Nevada before the election.

First Lady Laura Bush is scheduled to visit Las Vegas on Tuesday for a fund-raiser.
