Adventure planned in Cultural Corridor

"The Day of Adventure" will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Las Vegas' Cultural Corridor, with free admission to Lied Discovery Children's Museum, the Natural History Museum, Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park, Reed Whipple Cultural Center, Neon Museum, and the Las Vegas Library.

Opening festivities will begin at 10 a.m. at Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North, with free refreshments, brochures, tour registration and adventure day information offered at the welcome tent in the parking lot.

Tuition at stake in Get Schooled Games

Cox Communications and Game Show Network invites area residents to GSN's Get Schooled Games Tour" from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Galleria at Sunset mall.

Area residents will have a chance to win $10,000 toward college tuition and the opportunity to receive personal autographs and photos with Evan Marriott, host of FAKE-A-DATE.

Get Schooled Games Tour is a student focused educational games road show that will award a total of $110,000 toward college tuition to selected winners across the U.S.

The event is open to everyone, however competitors for the college tuition grand prize must be 16-years or older. (Minors must be accompanied by a parent/ legal guardian to compete in live game play.)

Each attendee that registers will receive three opportunities to enter separate random drawings for a chance to compete on the main stage in a live game show where one winner in each market will walk away with $10,000 and a trip to Los Angeles.

Liberace Play-A-Like competition Saturday

The 12th annual Liberace Play-A-Like competition will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for amateurs and from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for professionals Saturday at the Liberace Museum, 1775 E. Tropicana Ave.

The pianist in each of the two divisions (amateur and professional) with the highest score will be awarded the Liberace Crystal Piano trophy. All contestants will receive official certificates of participation.

A panel of Las Vegas entertainment media, music academia and the Liberace Foundation will judge the competition.

The competition will be hosted by Will Collins, a Liberace tribute artist, and former Play-A-Like winner Martin Preston.

Brandeis Women's brunch is scheduled

The Las Vegas Chapter of Brandeis University National Women's Committee installation and breakfast brunch will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Summit Restaurant, 2215 Thomas Ryan Blvd.

Proceeds will go to provide financial support and growth for Brandeis University Libraries and Research Centers.

Reservation deadline is Wednesday.

Neighborhood Congress planned

Walk-in Registration for the Neighborhood Congress, a one-day conference, will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the East Las Vegas Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.

The event is designed to bring residents together with groups, businesses and government entities to learn how to preserve and enhance their neighborhoods. And to help residents take an active role in the community.

The conference is open to the first 200 adults (19 years of age and up) and the first 125 youth (13-18 years of age) that register.

Registration is free and can be made in person at 500 S. Grand Central Parkway, first floor in the Neighborhood Services Office. The MacCall Youth Tennis Foundation
