Durango star to play at Western Illinois
Derek Thomas is calling on his Las Vegas roots to find his latest recruit.
Durango's Allen McFarland has signed a letter of intent to play for Thomas, a former UNLV assistant coach, at Western Illinois beginning next season. McFarland, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, averaged 12.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Blazers last season. McFarland played one season at Durango after transferring from Western.
McFarland is the second Durango player to receive a basketball scholarship this season, joining guard Tywain McTyer (Florida Atlantic). Durango's Houston Power is also being recruited, notably by Wyoming and UNLV, and could commit by next week.
