Two Las Vegas restaurateurs were honored in New York on Monday by the prestigious James Beard Foundation.
Bradley Ogden restaurant in the Caesars Palace resort was named the best new restaurant in the nation and Luciano Pellegrini of Valentino at The Venetian was named best chef in the Southwest.
Bradley Ogden opened in March 2003 as Ogden's eighth restaurant, and it is the namesake restaurant of the famed Bay-area chef and the first restaurant in Las Vegas to win this award, Caesars said.
Ogden, who has worked with James Beard and is a James Beard Award-winning chef, is known for offering seasonal farm-fresh cuisine.
This was the second consecutive year Pellegrini of the acclaimed Piero Selvaggio's Valentino Italian restaurant was nominated for the Southwest chef award.
The honors were significant for Las Vegas, where Ogden and Pellegrini live and are visible to diners at the local restaurants.
