Alleged 311 Boyz reach plea agreements
Tuesday, May 11, 2004 | 11:18 a.m.
Three alleged members of 311 Boyz gang entered plea agreements this morning in the beating that left another teen with a crushed face.
Brandon Gallion, 16, Christopher Farley, 18, and Jeff Hart, 17, pleaded the equivalent of no-contest on felony counts of battery with use of a deadly weapon to cause substantial bodily harm. They now face between two and 15 years in prison, but their attorneys said they would ask for probation for the teens.
It was the second plea agreement in the beating of Stephen Tanner Hansen, 17, at a house party last summer.
Matthew Costello, 18, made a similar plea last week in the case.
The teens and five others were charged with attempted murder, battery and coercion in the attack under the theory that they all conspired to attack Hansen. Other charges were dropped.
Steven Gazlay, whom prosecutors have described as a ringleader in the group, has been convicted of unrelated charges but has not yet been tried in the beating.
Under Costello's plea agreement he could have been called as a witness against the others, prosecutors said.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Christopher Laurent said this morning the state would not make any sentencing recommendations to state Parole and Probation Department in the cases of the three who pleaded this morning.
They have a sentencing hearing July 6.
