SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Starter Mike Wood limited Las Vegas to one hit over seven innings to lead Sacramento to a 3-1 victory against the 51s on Mother's Day.
Designated hitter Koyie Hill had the 51s' only hit of the game -- a first-inning single.
Wood struck out four and walked none. He never threw more than 19 pitches in an inning and retired the final 13 batters he faced.
The 51s' only run came with two outs in the third, when Antonio Perez hit a fly ball that caromed off left fielder Dan Johnson's glove for an error. Jose Flores jogged home to make it 1-1.
The River Cats had taken a 1-0 lead in the second when Las Vegas starter Joel Hanrahan walked in a run.
The River Cats added two runs in the fifth -- one on a balk and the other on Graham Koonce's RBI single.
