Thursday, May 6, 2004 | 10:08 a.m.

CARSON CITY -- Ace Robison, who has a history of government service, has been named by Gov. Kenny Guinn to the Colorado River Commission, replacing the late Lamond Mills.

Robison, 60, now in the private consulting business in Logandale, was principal deputy assistant secretary of energy and director of public affairs with the Energy Department.

He served as chief of staff for Sen. Paul Laxalt and worked as an investigator for the Clark County district attorney's office.

Guinn said today that Robison has "vast experience at both the state and federal level" and "will be an intelligent voice regarding the body of water that is Southern Nevada's lifeblood."

Robison said he was looking forward "to enhance the economic circumstances of Nevada through optimum utilization of resources under the jurisdiction of the Colorado River Commission."

There are seven members on the commission, four of them named by the governor and three by the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
