Golf tournament to help athletes
The Findlay Toyota Rebel Athletic Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament will begin with registration at 10 a.m. and followed by a shot-gun start at 11 a.m. Monday at SouthShore Golf Club at Lake Las Vegas.
The fund-raiser will benefit student-athletes by providing them with scholarships, summer school tuition, room and board, and other academic assistance.
Entry fee is $400 and includes greens fees, cart, tee prizes, boxed lunch, dinner and awards ceremony.

Deep-sea fishing trip is scheduled
Registration must be received by Tuesday for the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department's overnight deep-sea fishing excursion to California June 11-12.
Participation is $150, which includes roundtrip transportation; overnight accommodation on the boat; bait, rod, reel and tackle; and fishing license.
Registration is open to participants 10 years of age and up. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, call 267-4053.
Anxiety seminars open to teens
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Psychology Department will conduct a series of anxiety prevention workshops from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, through June 13 or based on demand, for adolescents who experience moderate levels of anxiety.
The free seminars will teach participants and their parents anxiety management skills, including special muscle relaxation and breathing techniques.
Participants must be between the ages of 12 and 17 years and be fluent in English. Parental permission and attendance is required.
Ideal participants are those youth who already experience a moderate level of anxiety but who are not currently receiving psychological or drug treatments for anxiety-related conditions and who do not have behavior problems.
Those who are eligible for the seminars must complete an assessment consisting of questionnaires and a brief interview.

As part of the Nevada Archaeology Awareness

Grants available for centennial party
The Las Vegas Centennial grant program, with educational and event grants ranging from $500 to $10,000, will provide funding for nonprofit civic, charitable, education, ethnic and faith-based organizations to join in Las Vegas' yearlong birthday bash with their own program in 2005.
Organizations without nonprofit standing can apply for the grants by partnering with a nonprofit organization.
Organizations must complete an application describing the event or project and the specific use of the grant funds. The grant application is available on the Las Vegas Centennial celebration Web site, www.lasvegas2005.org, and at the Centennial office, 400 Stewart Ave., Second Floor.
The deadline to apply is May 15. Call 229-2005.
Poetry planned for CAT buses
Clark County Parks and Community Services' Cultural Division, in partnership with the Regional Transportation Commission, is issuing a Call for Work for a new public art project, "Reflections in Motion."
Similar to popular bus poetry projects across the country, selected poetry will be displayed on the interior of Citizen Area Transit buses traveling throughout Southern Nevada.
Poets must include a resume, with their name, address, phone number and e-mail address included (if applicable). English or Spanish entries (four copies, 40 word limit) can be mailed, faxed to 263-5284, or e-mailed to bushds@ co.clark.nv.us. The postmark deadline for submission materials is June 1.
