SUN WIRE REPORTS
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Anaheim Angels are considering starting Aaron Sele in place of Ramon Ortiz in Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Ortiz's regular turn would land Wednesday, but that's the day the Angels have decided to slot Kelvim Escobar back into the rotation. Escobar missed a start with a split fingernail.
Sele replaced Escobar and threw five shutout innings Saturday, earning consideration for another start, especially since Ortiz (1-3, 9.28 ERA) has been inconsistent this season.
Manager Mike Scioscia, however, remained noncommittal.
"Right now we have a chance to juggle things with (last Monday's) off-day," he said.
Port, the Angels' GM from 1984 to '91, was shopping at a book store when he had the heart attack and fell, hitting his head. A bystander performed CPR on Port until paramedics arrived.
Port, 58, was responding to verbal commands Sunday morning and doctors reduced the amount of sedation medication. He was on a respirator as of Sunday. A CT scan on Port's head showed no serious damage resulting.
