Boys, Girls Clubs host spring leagues

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Las Vegas are currently signing up valley residents to participate in the annual spring basketball leagues for youths in grades 6-12.

Sponsored by Ken Templeton Realty and Desert Toyota of Las Vegas, the games will be played at the Lied Memorial Boys and Girls Club, 2850 S. Lindell Road, and at Donald W. Reynolds Boys and Girls Club, 2980 S. Robindale Road.

Games start the week of April 12 and will be played between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Cost is $35; $45 for guests. Call 933-7777.

Henderson club plans annual auction

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Henderson will hold the 25th annual auction beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Convention Center, 220 S. Water St.

The event will also celebrate the Boys and Girls Clubs of Henderson's 50th anniversary.

The event will feature dinner, a silent auction, drawings and a live entertainment.

More than 50 items will be offered in the live auction and nearly 250 items will be available in the silent auction. Items already donated include a Canadian fishing trip, vacations to Niagara Falls and Seattle, as well as a trip for four to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.

Tickets are $100.

Health conference scheduled Monday

The National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer will be celebrating its 10th annual Public Health Conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Monte Carlo.

The organization's goals are: increase behavior changes in blacks and other minorities; promote culturally competent health care and services in at-risk populations; enhance the competency of health care professionals, lay persons and survivors in the areas of primary and secondary health care; bring to the community the latest cultural, scientific and treatment information available.

Health Expo 2004 set for Cox Pavilion

Covering Kids and Families is sponsoring the Health Expo 2004 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Pavillion.

Learn more about the health resources available in the community and access services including blood pressure checks, mental health information, mammograms, immunizations, hearing and vision exams, bone density tests, a community blood drive and much more.

The GFWC Junior Mesquite Club,

702 E. St. Louis Ave., will hold its anual Art Auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the club. Admission is $10.

Chabad of Green Valley,

10870 S. Eastern Ave., Suite 104, will hold two Seders and a Yizkor memorial service at 8 p.m. Monday and 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Each Seder's four course meal is only $36; $20 for children under 12. Call Chaya at 897-0770.
