Nevada Supreme Court acts on four attorney bar cases

CARSON CITY, Nev. - The Nevada Supreme Court has prohibited a Las Vegas attorney from practicing law, effective immediately, pending outcome of a complaint that he might have misappropriated more than $200,000.
The court said Robert Knott's suspension would remain in effect until the Nevada Bar resolves formal disciplinary proceedings against him.
Knott was accused of closing his office last year but not notifying clients. At his request last September, the court said Knott was transferred to inactive status. But he continued to appear in court, file documents and conduct negotiations.
The court on Friday prohibited Knott from withdrawing funds from client trusts or other accounts without Nevada Bar counsel or court approval.
In another case, the court agreed to the voluntary disbarment of attorney G. Brent Heggie of Las Vegas. Heggie faces four Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board disciplinary complaints accusing him of conflict of interest, failing to safe keep property, disobeying a court order and failing to respond to the disciplinary board.
The court reinstated lawyer Leslie Mark Stovall, who served a two-year suspension after being convicted of filing a false tax return, a felony. Stovall has paid a $5,000 penalty.
The court also accepted the irrevocable resignation of attorney Lona Lea Webb from the Nevada Bar. She was suspended for one year by the Oregon Supreme Court, has not practiced in Nevada for four years and lives in Missouri, where she does not practice law.
