Orlando-based discount carrier AirTran Airways will continue its expansion in Las Vegas with nonstop round trips to and from the Quad Cities on the Iowa-Illinois border, the company announced Thursday.
The late-night service will operate four times a week, beginning June 17, with flights to and from Quad Cities International Airport, serving the cities of Rock Island and Moline, Ill., and Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, on the Mississippi River.
The new service will leave Quad Cities at 10:30 p.m., arriving in Las Vegas just after midnight, with the return flight leaving at 12:55 a.m., arriving at 6:10 a.m.
The company operates a fleet of twin-engine Boeing 717 jets and later this year will take deliver of twin-engine Boeing 737-700 jets.
Earlier this week, AirTran announced it was adding new round trips three times a week between Las Vegas and Dallas-Fort Worth, also in June. The airline already has two round trips a day to and from both Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta.
