Letter: Preteens taught to hate and discriminate

It's horrible enough to be engaged in a debate where your "lifestyle" is accused of being unnatural and against God, but to have preteens holding signs of hateful epithets against gays -- as shown in a USA Today photo last week -- is proof that common sense on this issue is nonexistent.
First of all, these kids aren't supposed to have full knowledge of sex except for abstinence. Secondly, children that young have not read the Bible in its entirety or lived life enough to form an opinion. But here they are, thrown into the national spotlight to support a hateful and uneducated opinion on something most parents are lobbying for: to keep sexual images away from their children.
If that is not a sign of hate and discrimination against the "unknown," then I don't know what is.
