A Las Vegas resident who was an assistant to a bank executive was sentenced to nearly six years in prison after embezzling more than $5 million from her former employer.
Darlene Gentry, 53, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Garrett E. Brown Jr., in Trenton, N.J., to 57 months earlier this week for mail fraud and tax evasion.
Gentry had power of attorney over personal accounts of her employer at United Jersey Bank and then Summit Bank, both in Princeton, where she embezzled the money from 1995 to 2001.
Gentry spent the money on three homes, international travel, artwork, a Range Rover and more, officials said.
