Letter: Mike’s memories of his boyhood will be missed
Wednesday, March 24, 2004 | 9:23 a.m.
Being a fellow Wisconsinite, the columns in which Mike O'Callaghan reminisced about his boyhood were the most interesting for me, although I always looked forward to reading whatever he had to say.
A number of years ago, when the Sun building was on Valley View Boulevard, I was walking toward it one day when I was greeted by Mike. He got out of his car and offered me a friendly and cheerful "Good morning!" The greeting made me, a nobody, feel like a somebody -- for that moment, at least.
That brief encounter has remained uppermost in my mind ever since, and I feel truly blessed to have been in the presence of one of God's anointed men. On the sad news of Mike's passing, I extend my sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
