Walk, pig kissing helps diabetes battle
Greenspun Middle School's Walk for Diabetes is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
Students and teachers will walk for 30 minutes, followed by the announcement of the winning Kiss-A-Pig candidate to smooch a pig provided by RC Farms.
Money is being raised for the American Diabetes Association through candidate nominations, where students purchase votes for 25 cents each for the candidate they want to see kiss a pig.

Auto theft prevention program set Saturday
An auto theft prevention event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Mervyn's, 4700 Meadows Lane.
Allstate Insurance will be offering the Vin Etchprogram; Metro Viper detectives and crime prevention specialists will take registrations in the Watch Your Car program; auto theft detectives will have information on auto theft prevention and anti-theft devices; and United Blood Services will have the Bloodmobile for donors.

Fashion show benefits Negro College Fund
Gamma Phi Delta Sorority Alpha Rho Chapter will present the 46th annual Ebony Fashion Fair Color Splash at 8 p.m. Sunday at Texas Station.
The event will feature extravagant styles by world famous designers such as Bob Mackie, Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta, Hanae Mori, Christian LaCroix, Antonio Wingfield, Beaulah Cooley, L'Amour, Stephen Burrows and Fusha.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the United Negro College Fund, which raises money for historically black colleges and universities; and a donation will also will also be given to a local public radio.
Ticket prices are $50 and are available at Texas Station or Larry's Sight and Sound Center, 1000 N. Martin Luther King Blvd. The price includes a one-year subscription to Ebony magazine or six months to Jet magazine as well as a reception after the show with turkey and beef carving stations, cheese, fruit, and international coffees.
Several raffle prizes will be awarded at the end of the fashion show, including Fashion Fair cosmetics and airline tickets for two to any destination served by American Airlines or American Eagle Airlines in the domestic 48 states. Also, there will also be an opportunity to win a car.

Teddy Bear Tea, Fashion Show on tap
The second annual Teddy Bear Tea and Fashion Show will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at the Four Seasons, to benefit the Lied Discovery Children's Museum.
The event, for parents, grandparents and children of all ages, will feature a fashion show of children's boutique fashions, high tea, art activities and performances plus an exciting raffle of unique items for children and adults.

Entertainers to help Safe Nest fund-raiser
Elementary Solutions presents Vegas Unites Against Domestic Violence, a day of community awareness, entertainment and fund-raising for Safe Nest from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway.
Included in the entertainment is Franky Perez's "Something Crazy." Other acts set to perform include the Scintas and performers from "La Cage." Comedians include Scott Fig, Jeremy Flores, Ali Zachary and Steve Young. Musicians include Fields of Gold, the Gypsy Moths, Iya Khan and the Would Be Kings, Killians Angels, the Platters, Coleen Snell, and Ponder. The Thunder from Down Under will make an appearance. All proceeds will benefit Safe Nest.

Catholic Daughters of America
will hold its Spring Craft and Bake sale from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Church, 1111 Michael Way. The event will also include a raffle. All proceeds will go to charity. Call 646-1323.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,

The Spring Craft Faire

Lake Mead Christian Academy
will hold its 15th birthday celebration from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the academy, 540 E. Lake Mead Parkway, Henderson. The event is open to all residents in Henderson and Las Vegas and will feature a marketplace with vendors, carnival games, a giant "Sportsland" jumping castle and other inflatables, a chili cook-off, and more. University Medical Center's
Senior Celebrations will offer the program Eyes of March at 9 a.m. Friday at the Family Resource Center at UMC, 1120 Shadow Lane.
