Police investigating possible murder-suicide

Metro Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide that took place near Torrey Pines Drive and Washington Avenue about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Residents reported hearing an argument and then gunshots, police said.

Police responded and found the bodies of a man and a woman in front of a home in the 700 block of North Torrey Pines, Metro Lt. Tom Monahan said.

Witnesses told police they saw a man standing over the woman and then watched as he shot himself, Monahan said. Police believe the couple did not live at the home.

They have been identified as Jesus Eduardo Mariscal, 33, and Maria Mariscal-Villanueva, 34, both of Las Vegas.

They were pronounced dead at the scene. No suicide note was found by police.
