Letter: Lewd Las Vegas is not a place to bring children
Monday, March 22, 2004 | 8:34 a.m.
My family and I just returned home from our first and last vacation in Las Vegas. We were under the impression, based on travel guides and promotional websites, that Las Vegas was supposed to be a kid-friendly destination. Within 10 minutes of our arrival, we realized that that was not the case.
During our stay we were assaulted with pornographic fliers, newsstands, billboards ("A woman in your room in 30 minutes or less -- just like a pizza!"), etc.
Our original intent was to stay five days in the city and spend the remaining days making day trips to surrounding points of interest, but we quickly decided to get out and stay out until it was time to catch our flight home. If your city has no standards of community decency, then so be it, but don't give people the impression that this is a place they can safely bring their children!
