Former gaming panel chief Bowers dies

CARSON CITY -- Edward Bowers, who served as executive director of the Nevada Gaming Commission for 12 years, has died at the age of 72 in Carson City.
Bowers started as an auditor for the commission and was named director in 1963 by Gov. Grant Sawyer. He served until 1975 when he retired.
He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Bowers died March 18 at his home in Carson City.
